Bhubaneswar duo Dillip Kumar Jena and Anupama Swain won the kumite titles in the men and women categories respectively in the 25th State Karate Championship, which concluded here at Sahidnagar Indoor Hall yesterday. According to media reports, State Sports Secretary Saswat Mishra gave away the prizes at the closing ceremony.
Among other notable achievers, Bhubaneswar youngsters Anirudh Pratap Singh and Smruti Shalini bagged a double each in the three-day championship, which was conducted by Orissa State Karate-do Association. Anirudh won the two titles in 12 to 13 years boys kata and kumite, while Smruti did an encore in the girls category.
The individual kata titles in men and women categories were claimed by Deepak Kumar Samantara and Sujata Sahoo respectively. The three-day championship was earlier inaugurated by Panchayatiraj Secretary Usha Padhy.

Girls kumite: 10-11 years: Ananya Senapati (Bhubaneswar); 12-13 years: Smruti Shalini; 14-15 years: Somu Nayak (Sundargarh); 16-17 years: Savita Konhar (Khurda).
